What Does a Move Cost?
No mystery math. Here's exactly what goes into a moving price — and how to keep it down.
Moving quotes can feel like a black box. They shouldn't be. Here's what actually drives the price of a professional move.
1. Crew size and hours
Most moves are priced by how many movers you need and how long it takes, with a 2-hour minimum. A bigger crew costs more per hour but often finishes faster — so for a larger home, more movers can actually cost less overall.
2. Distance
How far your move is matters. We set your rate by distance zone from our Scranton home base — local, regional, or long-range. Just enter your ZIP and we calculate it for you.
3. Service level
Labor-only (you bring the truck) is the most affordable. Full-service includes our truck and equipment. Our All-In-One Bundle adds packing and cleaning for one flat local rate.
4. Add-ons
- Packing — priced per hour if you'd like us to handle it.
- Specialty items — pianos, safes, and similar heavy pieces carry a flat handling add-on.
How to lower your cost
- Declutter before the move — you pay to move what you keep.
- Be fully packed and stacked by the door before the crew arrives.
- Reserve close parking and clear the path at both ends.
- Book mid-week and mid-month when possible.
- Ask about veteran/first-responder and referral promo codes.
